The Olde English Bulldogge breed was designed to recreate the breed type of the old English Bulldogs of the 1800s and early 1900s. The modern English Bulldog is not what it used to be. The average English Bulldog now is a miniature version of what it used to be and has less drive. The original English Bulldog was a large dog that was epitome of strength, courage, and athleticism. These were the type of dogs old cartoons were based on; like Looney Tunes’ Hector the Bulldog (Spike) in 1945 and Butch in 1944.

The 3 creators of these characters were all born before 1910; back in a time when the original breed type of Bulldog existed in pockets of the world. So it is likely that they were influenced by the original English Bulldogs of their childhood. Bulldog breeders started breeding the Bulldogs down in size during the early 1900s; resulting in the smaller English Bulldog of today. The Olde English Bulldogge breed was created to bring back the look and drive of the original English Bulldog.

Brian’s interest in Bulldogs started as a young kid watching cartoons. He was impressed by the big, strong, courageous Bulldogs from the cartoons; that many of us watched growing up. This is what sparked his interest in Bulldogs. Then at age 15, Brian met an oversized English Bulldog named Mr. Jack. Miller knew immediately that one day his calling would be to breed Bulldogs. He spent hours playing with Mr. Jack and fell in love with the breed. By the time Miller was in his early 20s, he decided to get into the breeding business. He wanted to find dogs that resembled those Bulldogs in the old cartoons.

Some time after meeting Mr. Jack, he discovered the Olde English Bulldogge breed and grew interested. So about 14 years ago, he decided to start traveling around the country to find the best Olde English Bulldogges he could find. The Olde English Bulldogge breed had the overall general look he was searching for, but he wanted to continue to improve the breed. His goal was to create the biggest, strongest, healthiest working Bulldogges around. So he created Evolution Bulldogges and started his own breeding program.

This is definitely his passion and it comes across in his voice every time he talks about his dogs.

His focus recently has been on just continuing to improve the quality of the breed right in his own yard. The dogs used in his program continue extensively health tested and handpicked for certain traits and qualities. This is evident in the photos of his dogs on their website.
